Kitchen Renovations

The heart of the home, the kitchen, is often the focal point of your house. Being such an important part of your home, there is so much to consider when you decide to remodel. Do I want to keep my existing floor plan? Should I replace or reface my cabinets? Which is a more cost-efficient option: granite or composite? Bosancu Construction will work directly with you to help you decide what is the best for your kitchen based on your personal needs.

A Few Helpful Tips!

1. Understand Your Personal Needs

Do you love to cook? Do you have specific pots and pans that you use on a regular basis. Do you have a big family? A yes answer to any of these questions should inspire you to think about storage. Designing a space with lots of counter space and plenty of storage would be most efficient in this situation. Install spacious and practical cabinets that can hold all of your things.

2. Cabinets

The highest quality of kitchen cabinets are made from wood. Factory-made cabinets have a smoother more durable and long-lasting finish and tend to be cheaper in price whereas custom-made cabinets or solid wood cabinets can require regular maintenance and can be very expensive. Most wood cabinets are made from particle board or MDF. Cabinets that are made from a combination of MDF, particle board, plywood and real solid wood are more moisture resistant, shrink proof and generally more expensive. For example, a $25.00 cabinet is made from all MDF where a $150.00 cabinet is made from 3 different materials.

Whatever you decide, cabinets come in all different colors and designs. If you like a more modern look, you can go for a sleek wood cabinet painted a solid color. If you are looking for a more traditional looking kitchen, you can insert glass in the doors and show off your crystal. Cabinets overall should be in a neutral color, not too light. Although lighter-colored cabinets make your space look bigger, they show stains and dirt more easily and are harder to keep clean overall.

3. Countertops

There are many different products out there for counter-tops. Formica, Corian other composite materials, glass, butcher-block, stainless steel, concrete, natural stones (granite, marble and limestone), and tiles. It’s all about what you like and what kind of theme you are going for in your kitchen. Of course cost is a big part of your decision. Nowadays, homebuyers expect granite, even in less expensive homes. If looking to add resale value to you home, granite is the way to go. It is incredibly durable and heat-resistant unlike composite counters. Composite counter are more affordable and can look just as beautiful as a natural stone counter.
